About Me

Hi! I’m an MSc student in Computer Science at the University of British Columbia supervised by Mark Schmidt. I am fortunate to be supported by the NSERC Canada Graduate Research Scholarship – Master’s (CGRS-M) award.

My research seeks to understand the principles underlying the effectiveness of modern deep learning. I am broadly interested in the science and theory of deep learning, with a particular focus on optimization and generative models such as large language models. I like to combine rigorous mathematical analysis with controlled empirical studies to understand how and why these methods work in practice. I hope to use these insights to develop more principled, efficient, and reliable AI systems.

During my undergraduate studies, I was fortunate to work with Zhiyuan Li and Tianhao Wang at TTIC; Peter Richtárik at KAUST; and Mark Schmidt, Renjie Liao, and Leonid Sigal at UBC.
